Before — Existing Condition

Pieced-together mix of old vinyl and metal cladding — multiple different materials, no consistent finish, failing at the seams. The soffit line was unresolved and no previous contractor had offered a solution to properly finish it.

During — Prep, Wrap & Installation

Existing cladding stripped back to framing. New strapping installed to create a flat, plumb substrate. Full Tyvek HomeWrap moisture barrier applied before any metal panels went on. Red Heritage panels installed section by section with white trim — the soffit flashing detail resolved cleanly as panels progressed.

After — Completed Installation

The finished result — exactly what the client had always wanted. Heritage Red cladding, white trim, clean soffit line with custom fabricated flashings. A completely transformed building that looks like it was always meant to be a classic Ontario barn.

Before — Open Deck Structure

Elevated second-storey deck with completely open joist structure below. Every rainfall soaked the space underneath — no shelter, no usability. The space had potential but needed a proper system to unlock it.

During — Panel Installation & Drainage System

Custom metal panels installed section by section with a built-in slope toward the drainage channels. Perimeter flashings custom-fabricated on site to seal every edge — walls, posts, and the beam line. Drainage channels integrated into the panel system route water to custom downspouts positioned to discharge away from the foundation.

After — Completed System & Outdoor Living Space

The finished system — a clean, fully enclosed ceiling with integrated drainage. The space below is completely dry in any weather. The final photo shows exactly what this product delivers: a furnished outdoor living room that didn't exist before, usable year-round regardless of what's happening above it.

Before — Existing Shingle Roof

Aging asphalt shingles showing significant wear. Before recommending an over-shingle approach, we assessed the existing roof thoroughly — deck condition, shingle flatness, moisture, penetrations. All issues were documented and discussed with the client before any work began.

After — Completed Metal Roof

Exposed fastener panels installed over a full waterproof membrane — clean, dark, and sharp against the grey siding. All penetrations properly flashed, ridge capped, and eave trim finished. The transformation is dramatic from every angle.

Before — Framing & Insulation Stage

Structure framed and Silverboard continuous insulation already installed by others — a well-prepared substrate ready for the metal envelope. Our scope starts here: roof panels, wall cladding, and full trim package.

During — Roof & Wall Panel Installation

Roof panels installed first, then wall cladding progressing around the building. Charcoal trim fitted at all corners, eaves, and openings as panels are installed — trim work is done alongside panel installation, not as an afterthought.

After — Completed Building

Completed roof, walls, and full trim package. Slate grey panels with charcoal trim — a sharp, clean agricultural building that will require no painting, no maintenance, and will look the same in 30 years as it does today.

Before — Oxidised Green Finish

30+ years of weathering had stripped the original green finish completely. Heavy oxidation, vertical streaking from run-off, and near-total colour fade across every surface. The roof was structurally sound — an ideal candidate for painting rather than replacement.

After — Regent Grey, Colour Matched to Supplier

Full pressure wash followed by direct-to-metal paint application in Regent Grey — matched to current metal panel supplier specifications so future flashing or panel replacements can be sourced to match. Clean, uniform finish across the entire envelope — roof and wall cladding.

What We Find & Fix

A sample of real conditions we encounter — ice dams causing structural risk, improperly installed panels lifting at the eave, failed fastener sealant on agricultural roofs, aging seams needing assessment, and heat trace installations to prevent recurring ice formation.

After — 115-Year Roof Preserved & Patched

The completed project — the original 115-year interlocking tile roof preserved in place, with the chimney removal section patched using period-matched tiles sourced specifically for this job. The iridescent patina of deep reds, greens, and purples is the result of over a century of natural oxidation. The matched tiles were installed and will develop the same patina over time.

Before — Left by the Chimney Removal Company

The only photo of the pre-repair condition. The chimney removal company left the section open — a temporary patch of rubber membrane and Blueskin holding it until a roofing contractor could address it. The original 115-year tiles are visible surrounding the gap. Every contractor who quoted it said replace the whole roof.

Chimney section before repair
The Problem

Chimney removed, section left open with a temporary patch. Three contractors assessed it and quoted full roof replacement — citing the age of the tiles and inability to source a match.

Our Assessment

The existing tiles were structurally sound and watertight. The roof did not need replacing. The only scope required was sourcing matching period tiles and patching the chimney section properly.

The Solution

We sourced matching 115-year-old metal tiles, fabricated the necessary flashings, and completed a proper patch. The replacement tiles will develop the same patina over time and blend naturally into the original field.
