If you have an elevated deck, the space underneath it is typically wasted — exposed to rain, damp, and general neglect. Our custom under-deck waterproofing system changes that entirely. A metal panel ceiling is installed beneath the deck structure, capturing rain water and channelling it away through an integrated custom eavestrough system.
The result is a completely dry, finished space beneath your deck — usable year-round regardless of what's happening above it. A covered patio, an outdoor kitchen, extra storage, or simply a shaded seating area that stays dry even in heavy rain.
It's the same quality of metalwork we apply to every project — clean panels, properly integrated drainage, finished trim — built to the same standard as any roof we install.
The system works on a simple but effective principle: capture water before it reaches the space below, and carry it away cleanly. Every component is engineered to work together — the panels, the pitch, and the drainage system are all part of a single integrated design.
Custom metal panels are installed beneath the deck structure with a built-in slope. Rain water that falls through the deck boards above lands on the panels and runs toward the drainage channel rather than dripping into the space below.
The panels pitch to a central or perimeter drainage channel built into the ceiling system. Water is collected here and directed toward the eavestrough — completely out of sight.
A custom-fitted eavestrough is installed to carry the collected water away from the structure — down the posts or along the beam line — discharging it away from the building's foundation. No standing water, no overflow, no mess.
The completed system looks like a proper ceiling — clean panel lines, finished trim at the perimeter, and no visible drainage hardware. From below, it reads as a designed, finished space rather than a utility installation.
Rain, snowmelt, and condensation are captured by the panel system and channelled away. The space below stays dry in any weather — fully usable on a rainy afternoon while the deck above is soaked.
An under-deck area transformed into a covered patio effectively doubles your outdoor living space. Furniture, appliances, and lighting can all remain in place without weather protection — the ceiling does that job.
The metal ceiling creates consistent shade on hot days — making the space significantly more comfortable in summer than an open area would be. A natural extension of your cooling strategy.
Seasonal furniture, bicycles, tools, and equipment can be stored in a dry, sheltered space. No more dragging things inside for winter or covering everything with tarps through the shoulder seasons.
The panel system installs with a clean, architectural look. Clean lines, finished trim, and the same quality metalwork we apply to our roofing work — not a makeshift solution, but a designed, finished space.
By managing water drainage from above, the system also reduces moisture exposure on the deck framing itself — extending the structural lifespan of the deck and reducing maintenance requirements over time.
The system requires enough clearance beneath the deck to be functional — typically a minimum of 7 feet for a comfortable standing space. We'll assess the geometry on site.
Decks built above walk-out basement entrances or lower-level patios are ideal candidates — the covered space directly extends the living area of the lower level.
Any deck elevated one storey or more above grade creates a significant covered space potential below. Often the most impactful application in terms of space gained.
Incorporating the under-deck system into a new deck build is the most efficient approach — drainage and framing can be planned together from the start rather than retrofitted after.
In most cases the system can be retrofitted to an existing deck structure. We assess the existing framing condition and drainage options before quoting.
Every under-deck system we install is custom designed and fabricated for the specific deck — there are no standard off-the-shelf panel kits involved. Panel dimensions, drainage channel placement, eavestrough routing, and trim details are all determined by the geometry of your specific structure.
This means the finished result integrates properly with your home rather than looking like an afterthought — and it means every installation requires an on-site assessment before we can quote accurately.
We don't provide ballpark estimates for this system over the phone. A site visit is the only way to assess the scope properly and give you a price you can rely on.
Every under-deck system is custom — we need to see your property to scope it accurately. Get in touch to arrange a free on-site assessment throughout Simcoe County.
